We provide an after hours service to existing patients of the Practice. Refer to Contact Us for our normal hours of operation.
The need for a GP to be on call after hours before and after a busy day consulting in the practice is extremely demanding. We ask that you consider this and seek after hours care in the following ways:
- If you need advice for a medical emergency such as severe or persisting chest pain, breathing difficulties, severe bleeding or loss of consciousness you call 000 for an ambulance or for a serious illness or injury visit your nearest hospital Emergency Department.
- If you need reassurance or practical medical advice, phone the After Hours GP Helpline on 1800 022 222. You will be assessed by a Registered Nurse and you may be offered a call back from a GP. The feedback we have from our patients is that this is an excellent service.
- If you are a regular patient of Gerringong Medical Practice and still feel you need to see your GP before the practice opens (8:30 am Monday to Saturday), you can phone the practice and you will be diverted to our answering service. You will receive a call back from one of our GPs and may be offered an urgent after hours consultation.
Our after hours services are privately billed. After the Medicare rebate there will be an out-of-pocket cost of $75 for all after hours consultations, including children.
