We provide an after-hours service to regular patients of Gerringong Medical Practice.
The need for a GP to be on call after hours before and after a busy day consulting in the practice is extremely demanding. We kindly ask that you consider this and seek after-hours care in the following ways:
In a Medical Emergency
If you or someone else has any of the following, call 000 immediately:
- Severe or persistent chest pain
- Difficulty breathing
- Severe bleeding
- Loss of consciousness
- Any serious illness or injury
You may also attend your nearest Hospital Emergency Department.
Free Advice and Reassurance
If you are unsure what to do, or simply need medical reassurance, you can access free services:

You will speak with a Registered Nurse, and you may be offered a call back from a GP if needed.
Urgent Care Clinics (Free, 7 Days a Week)
- The Australian Government provides free urgent care from 8 am to 8 pm, 7 days a week.

- No appointment needed.
After-Hours Access for Regular Patients
If you are a regular patient and cannot wait until the practice reopens at 8:30 am (Monday–Saturday):
- Call the practice as normal.
- Your call will be diverted to our after‑hours answering service.
- You will receive a call back from a GP, who may offer you an urgent after‑hours consultation if required.

- All after‑hours services are privately billed.
- No discounts apply.
- After your Medicare rebate, there is a $79 out‑of‑pocket cost for all services, including telephone consultations.
