Influenza vaccinations

We advise all patients to have the influenza vaccination annually, unless there is a medical reason that prevents this, such as previous allergy to the influenza vaccination.

The following people are eligible for a FREE influenza vaccine:

  • all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people aged 6 months and over
  • all children aged 6 months to less than 5 years of age
  • pregnant women (at any stage of pregnancy)
  • people aged 65 years and over (vaccine that is specifically designed to produce a higher immune response is available for this group)
  • all individuals aged 5 years and over with serious health conditions such as diabetes, cancer, immune disorders, severe asthma, kidney, heart or lung disease

For those who are ineligible for a free vaccination, there will be no out-of-pocket cost for the consultation other than $20 for the vaccine.
